Nashville is hotter than hot chicken!
Austin who? Portland where?
If you live here, you already know it. Even if you've never visited Music City, you have probably read about it. Nashville has become the latest "it city". Nearly 14 million tourists came to Nashville in 2016, bringing over $5 billion into the local economy.
The city's popularity has reached a crescendo recently as the local NHL team, the Predators, has reached the Stanley Cup Final. Last night, they tied the series with a big win over Pittsburgh. Whether throwing catfish on the ice or guessing who will sing the national anthem next, Preds fans are having a blast!
But beyond the recent hockey craze, there is so much going on in Nashville right now. Just a few tidbits . . .
- There are cranes everywhere. What is this? Dubai? Manhattan? New hotels are sprouting up all over the place. And be ready for sticker shock. During events like CMA Fest, rack rates can reach NYC levels!
- If you are getting married soon, forget Vegas. Nashville is now the place for a bachelorette party!
- Tying back to the city's roots in country music, the "Mother Church" -- otherwise known as the Ryman Auditorium -- is one of the best places in the world to see music. Broadcasting since 1925, the Grand Old Opry spends some time at the Ryman every winter.
- In terms of cuisine, the iconic food choice here is hot chicken. Everyone has a favorite -- Prince's, Hattie B's, Big Shake's. Try them all!
- If you want to slow down a bit, just a short drive from the bustling honky-tonk scene on Broadway is the idyllic village of Leiper's Fork. Slow and easy country living. Come as you are!
- And this only touches the tip of the iceberg. There is so much to do & see in Nashville these days!
